Collaboration - the business case?

Collaboration has always been a key value for me. Over the last month I have been part of two hackathons, four webinars and numerous Facebook, linked in groups and conversations.

The first thing I love about collaboration is the shared intention to have a positive impact. That is why collaboration is and always will be one of my favourite things.

This week I had a conversation with some of the contributors to ISO44001 a standard on collaborative business relationships and found myself really interested in a standard which provides a process for collaboration and all of a sudden aware of the challenges of collaboration that this could address.

Challenges such as equal approaches (of resource, speed, focus) or being in action with differing visions or establishing structure needed to make action happen.

The community behind ISO44001 say 79% of the standard users felt their companies increased their competitive edge by using the standard and I loved hearing that statistic because it aligned with my sense that collaboration helps everyone move forward.
